GROUP PRESENTATIONS: COMMENTS AND REFLECTIONS GROUP 1- Intercultural Communication I feel Group 1 presentation on cultures and values went well. Our leaders were fast to create a What’s app group and guide us when necessary.  A member of my group was not present for the beginning slides but I think we did a good job when someone else immediately stepped up and presented for the missing participant. I feel that voice and tone was effective while explaining dominant culture . When it came to my turn to explain co-culture , I was nervous and repeated “alright” a few times but I tried to complement by giving examples. Native language was explained effectively and the difference between sex and gender was exemplified in language terms. Different religions were presented with examples to communicate that some generalizations create hatred unfairly. I believe that this was an effective way to make the audience reflect on this reality happening in the United States. I feel that t...

My Group     One of the finest ways to learn and discover, in my opinion, is to present. As an attendee, it's rewarding to learn from speakers and other participants. In the class three groups were formed and their topics were intercultural communication, group communication, and group leadership and problem-solving. Intercultural communication, a study of the connection between culture and communication, was first presented by my group. It was a fascinating lecture, and I learnt a lot about it. This chapter's objectives are to define culture and the function of communication within it, as well as to explain the relationship between dominant and co-cultures, practice methods to enhance intercultural communication competence through the definition of the various ways in which cultures differ, and define the dimensions of cultural diversity. Being apart of group 1, I'd say we all effectively worked together. For example, we divide up the work and handled every aspect of the...

Marcos Cruz - Blog My Group Embarking on a group project focused on exploring diverse cultural perspectives was a truly transformative journey that not only expanded my horizons but also highlighted the immense value of teamwork and collaboration. In this reflective blog, I aim to share my delight in working within a group setting and emphasize the benefits and joy of harnessing collective creativity and knowledge. The Beauty of Collective Wisdom  One of the most delightful aspects of this group project was the abundance of perspectives and ideas. Every team member brought a unique viewpoint and set of experiences to the table, enriching our discussions and enriching our project's depth. From the start, we quickly gave our pages and set up the group PowerPoint immediately. This motivated us to work fast and efficiently. Leadership as a Catalyst for Success Our group leader was adept at identifying each member's strengths and delegating tasks a...

Working together     Having the opportunity to work together with my classmates was a rewarding experience, the collaborative and friendly atmosphere allowed me to bring out skills I was unaware off. Not only were my skills brought out, but the skills of every other member were able to shine due to each person focusing on a singular aspect in the whole of the project. Learning about my team members through the zoom meetings and the whatsapp chat showed me that there are some things that are harder to accomplish alone, and that with teamwork, tasks normally seen as challenging can be made much simpler with the work of a group.     My task in the group project was about dominant cultures and biculturalism. It was an interesting topic that I had not researched prior to the project. I found it very intriguing learning about the aspects that shape the very country but yet are present in everyday mundane life. My classmates topics enhanced my own as they f...

Adrian Calvo - Post 1

Adrian Calvo I found the topics of the presentation that we did to be very interesting. I can’t remember a time when I’ve worked on a group project with this many people. It gave me a better understanding of how important it is to communicate when working on a larger scale. Seeing all of our work combine into one great presentation was very satisfying.  I was also glad with the group that I was paired up with. We worked efficiently and anytime that someone might have been confused or wanted a better understanding there was always quick support in our chat. A big factor in that was that our group leader was always on track and efficient. From the very start, we quickly had our pages assigned and the group PowerPoint set up. This put us into motion to work efficiently and quickly. There wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t sure about what was happening and I think that was very vital to us being able to work together. I find projects like these to be very beneficial. Talking in front of bi...

T ogether  E veryone  A chieves  M ore!    Working together not only encourages unity but helps each other understand misunderstandings and finish the task a lot faster.  Every career or class has a goal at the end of the day, which is to accomplish the assignments assigned before the deadline. Within the assignment everyone is assigned a role and/or part they have to do, you’ll will work together to get the task done properly and help each other with any difficulties.  Effective TeamWork only works with good communication and strategies. I know, teamwork is waaaaaaaaaaay harder when you are an introvert. Rather be on your own, get nervous talking to new people, get nervous presenting, and the list goes on. But you recently enrolled in college and with your luck your first class not only gives you a group assignment to work with your new peers but also puts you in group 1 where you ...
